Put together a Care Package for a Care Giver! Our social workers would like to be able to offer our care givers who are caring for a loved one in the community. Care giving for a seniors is so rewarding, but challenging and can be stressful and make a caregiver’s life unpredictable. We would like to offer a message of kindness and support to encourage them to keep going and let them know they are doing a great job!

Care Packages include a hand written note (handmade cards are especially welcome!) and small items such as puzzle books (crosswords, Sudoku, etc.), a box of hot cocoa, tea, tissues, hand crafted soaps, etc. Share a gift of kindness!

TreeHouse, Inc. is a Christian-based nonprofit organization whose purpose is to bring hope to hurting youth and families, leading to life transformation. TreeHouse provides a safe place for at-risk youth who are experiencing difficulties at home, in school or in their communities to strive and grow by combining long-term caring relationships with year-round balanced programs.

We currently have 8 locations where we serve teens from the surrounding communities: Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Chaska, Mahtomedi, Minnetonka, New Hope, Plymouth, St. Louis Park. We also need volunteers at our main office in Edina.

Gather a group of friends and create care packages for our teens and their families to enjoy during various times of the year. Specific needs include:

*Christmas Baskets. Create Christmas dinner baskets for our teens’ families.  Include ham, green bean casserole ingredients, sweet potatoes, jiffy corn bread, rolls, apple pie, Stove Top Stuffing, Hungry Jack Mashed Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, Poinsettia, a candle, Christmas napkins, plates, table cloth

*Christmas Gifts.  Each TreeHouse throws a Christmas party for our teens each year.  Purchasing gifts for teens ages 12-18 , donating gift cards, contributing cash (to be used for the staff to purchase gifts and prizes) or making a donation for this event goes a long way for our teens who often do not receive gifts at Christmas due to financial strains on their families.

Volunteers spend time with individuals who have mild to moderate memory loss while their caregivers take a break or attend support groups and programs offered by the Center or others in the community. Time commitment is flexible. The purpose and role of this position is to provide safe and nurturing support for the person with memory loss while giving their Caregiver (typically a spouse or family member) an opportunity to take a break from his/her care giving responsibilities. Provide visiting and activities that are meaningful and appropriate to the stage of memory loss. Memory Companion training session includes volunteer orientation and ongoing connection with Center Staff.
