JOB SUMMARY

The Health Educator Intern is responsible for planning and presenting educational presentations to schools and community groups. The intern will use evidence-informed curriculum and appropriate strategies and methods that support young people in making healthy and well-informed decisions. Topics the Health Educator Intern will be presenting include, but are not limited to: abstinence, contraception, safer sex, healthy relationships, intimacy and consent, sexually transmitted infections, sexual decision making, stress management, and puberty.

This is an unpaid position– benefits are not offered, mileage is reimbursed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate health education classes and small groups for teens and young adults, parents, and professionals, in schools and other youth serving organizations; the Health Educator Intern must be comfortable presenting to a range of group sizes, from 10 – 150 individuals
  • Remain calm and collected during presentations and answer anonymous questions quickly in a professional, value-free manner
  • Travel offsite to educational presentations
  • Develop, adapt and revise, as needed, curricula, materials and activities with an emphasis on utilizing evidence-based curriculum
