WAYZATA STUDENTS RAISE MONEY FOR LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
Two Wayzata boys have spent their summers organizing a charity junior golf tournament that help raise money for local non-profit organizations that help youth in need right here in the western suburbs. Over 60 golfers participate annually in this golf tournament held at Pioneer Creek Golf Club. With the help of sponsors and donations of prizes and money, the boys are able to give non-profit organizations both money and non-perishable food items.
2015: 106 lbs of food and $400 for 3 different organizations
2016: 338 lbs of food & $2,179 for Second Harvest Heartland
2017: 147 lbs of food & $2,363 for The Food Group
2018: $2,205 for Open Arms

This has been a great learning experience for these Wayzata students.  They couldn’t have done it without all theses junior golfers, it more than exceeded their expectations. It’s a great story of middle and high school students doing some good during their summer vacation.

TESTIMONIALS & THANK YOUs:
“I am beyond grateful for the amazing opportunity I had this summer to work with the Hope Center and the kids of Maple Hill through Westside Communities in Action. I truly enjoyed showing up every single day and building relationships with the kids and staff. It made me realize my passion for working with kids and how blessed I am to have been a part of this program. Thank you! I hope to come back during the school year to help my new friends with their homework.”

“We contacted Senior Community Services to see what service projects our hockey team could do this Fall.  They connected us with a senior who just recently came home from the hospital and was in need of raking her entire yard…80 garbage bags later and her yard was leaf free.  She was grateful for the boys help!” -Marcy

The Prism Birthday Party was really fun because it was something different to do with my friends.” – Chloe

“The Hope for the City/Matter exhibit was great for the kds to see how they can impact poverty through volunteer work” -Mary

I really enjoyed FB4K!!  I plan on volunteering again, and doing repair tune stuff to the bikes in the next few weeks.  I think John was pretty amazed at it as well.” -Dave

“Our hockey team volunteered at Free Bikes For Kids warehouse in Hopkins.  They were busy moving bikes to the cleaning station, then they cleaned over 50 bikes to get ready for the tune up station.  The boys had a blast!” -Lynn
