Ages 12 and under

The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center serves more than 600 nutritionally balanced meals to homeless or isolated individuals each day. On Christmas Eve, multiple shifts of volunteers will serve during the regular meals, plus the main meal served during lunch. Five volunteers are needed per shift. If you are part of a group, each person needs to sign up individually or you can call 651-746-3426 to reserve spots.

COVID-19 Precautions
The safety of volunteers, staff, and clients is our number one priority. Only volunteers, staff, and those staying at the shelter will be permitted in the facility to help maintain social/physical distancing. All volunteers will be asked  to wear a face mask upon entering the facility. Upon arrival, please expect to sign in, have your temperature checked through a touch-less thermometer by staff, sign a COVID screening form, and utilize provided sanitizer/hand washing as needed.

Once you have signed up for this activity, you will be sent a confirmation email with additional details about your shift.

Mount Olivet Rolling Acres offers care and services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Amongst other services, they operate 34 residential group homes throughout the Twin Cities (including many in the western suburbs). Usually they bring volunteers in to make holiday goodies with the residents, but of course, this year that is not a safe option!

Instead, they are asking volunteers to bring in frozen dough, with baking instructions, allowing staff to have a fun baking day with the residents! The dough can be for holiday cookies, breads or even cinnamon rolls! Enough dough for around 2 dozen treats would be ideal. Frozen dough can be dropped off at any of the residences up to a week before Christmas. Please ring the doorbell and leave the dough on the front steps. Don’t forget to include an encouraging holiday note with the dough! Please contact Laurie Mahoney (contact info. below) for more details and instructions.

The food shelf is the core of PRISM’s programming, and it can only run smoothly with a fantastic team of volunteers. Receive, sort, and stock incoming food, provide housekeeping, and assist with other tasks as needed. There is something for everyone in the food shelf!
