Volunteers needed to assist military families: Plymouth Beyond the Yellow Ribbon

September 15, 2012

in Ages 18+, Military

Plymouth Beyond the Yellow Ribbon (PBYR) is a network of community volunteers who stand ready to help military service members and their families on an as-needed basis.  As a PBYR volunteer, you will share your time, talent and expertise to meet requests for service — and ease the burden of military families, many of whom are stretched thin and stressed before, during and after deployment. PBYR maintains a database that helps match service requests with suitable volunteers.

Idea:  Letters to Soldiers
Let soldiers know how much you appreciate their service to protect us. Letters and drawings from children will be shared with deployed soldiers from MN, along with some food treats. A great way to make a soldier’s day.
Send letters and drawings to:  The Heinzen Ditter VFW, 19020 Hamel Rd., Plymouth  55446, C/O Plymouth Beyond the Yellow Ribbon

Ages:  Adults (will need to permit criminal background checks prior to some volunteer assignments)

Time Commitment:  Irregular & variable.  The volunteer may attend monthly PBYR meetings and/or be available to go on assignment.  The time commitment will be negotiated depending on the circumstances and volunteer’s availability.  The range of help needed by the families served may be technical, trades or simply helping with household chores.
